Don't miss this special opportunity to attend a master class with Joe Williams of the The Juilliard School. This is a rare chance for actors, dancers and students of holistic movement to explore firsthand the body language study that gave birth to the modern theatre, the Alexander Technique, modern dance and the Dalcroze method of music study.
In 2005, Mime Journal selected Joe Williams to be one of two artists featured in a special edition devoted specifically to Delsarte, and notably he is the only one who specializes in teaching this system. Williams lives in New York City and has been creating workshops and seminars on Delsarte since 1997. The Dalcroze Institute at Juilliard, in New York City recognizes Williams's creative talent and has placed him on their (movement) faculty. This marks the first time in recent history that Delsarte has been taught as a valid and practical training method at a major school of fine arts.
Here is a great chance to reignite your own awareness of Delsarte and his influence on the science of gesture, mime, dance and movement. The workshop will use Delsarte principles of movement to help you enhance both the effectiveness of your existing technique and the enjoyment of your art. The workshop will focus on movement principles that transcend movement genres, so movement artists of all persuasions will find the seminar useful.
Considered a world authority on Delsarte, Joe Williams is known for rediscovering the validity of Delsarte, and it's application to the modern theatre. He is on the movement faculty for the Dalcroze Institute at Juilliard, where students from around the world learn his Three Pillars approach to Delsarte. |
